Defence Gardens Scheme Spring Open Day

at

Vounder Therapy Garden, Eden Project

Drop In Anytime Between 10am and 1pm

Wednesday 25th February 2026

The DGS programme is run in the therapy garden at Eden and it is a 10 week course running on a Wednesday between 10am and 1pm.  The programme is for veterans and those who may soon be transitioning out of the armed forces.  During the course the veterans will be involved in all aspects of gardening, sowing seeds, pricking out seedlings, planting, weeding and harvesting, but you don’t need any prior experience or knowledge of gardening and we have activities for every level of skill and ability, sessions are really relaxed with no pressure or judgement.

For the Spring programme we are planning or creating an armed forces memorial garden, a forest garden and building some new raised beds.  We also provide lunch during the sessions, so participants will be also involved with harvesting vegetables, preparing and cooking food.  The programme is a really good way for veterans to connect with each other, find out about different activities in the area and what further support may be available for them.  The banter is always great and everyone has a lot of fun.

Come to find out more about what we do and to network with other people who work with veterans and serving armed forces personnel. Feel free to bring along any veterans or serving personnel you think might be interested in joining us for the Spring programme.
