We are proud to announce the launch of a brand-new weekly initiative in Saltash from Battling On. Beginning this autumn, we’ll be holding weekly sessions at the Oaklands Community Centre (PL12 4EZ)—just a short distance from the fire station and fully accessible to all.
These sessions are designed to serve as a welcoming, supportive, and empowering space for individuals across the entire Armed Forces spectrum, including:
- Serving military personnel
- Veterans and ex-forces
- Reservists
- Military families
- Carers of serving or former service members
Whether you’ve only recently transitioned to civilian life, are still serving, or are part of a family navigating the unique challenges of military life, these sessions offer something for everyone.
💬 What You Can Expect from Our Weekly Sessions
At the heart of these gatherings is a simple but powerful aim: to build resilience, foster connection, and offer tangible support in a safe, respectful environment. Each week, we will provide:
- Access to Battling On’s Bespoke Support Services, including:
- Guidance around employment and training opportunities
- Assistance with navigating benefits and housing
- Mental health and emotional wellbeing support
- Help connecting with local services and community resources
- Guest Speakers & Workshops: Hear from inspiring individuals who understand the Armed Forces journey. Topics will include mental resilience, leadership, reintegration, financial wellbeing, and more.
- Group Activities: From outdoor engagement and creative projects to physical training and peer-led sessions, there will always be opportunities to learn, grow, and enjoy shared experiences.
- A Listening Ear: Sometimes, all you need is someone who understands. Whether it’s our trained staff or the friendly faces you’ll meet, you’re never alone when you walk through our doors.

💬 Why We’re Doing This
At Battling On, we understand the challenges faced by those who have served—whether on the front line or the home front. The transition from military to civilian life can be complex, and the support available is not always easy to access. That’s why we’re committed to bringing services directly into the heart of communities, like Saltash, where they are needed most.
These weekly sessions are more than just events—they are opportunities to rebuild confidence, reignite purpose, and reconnect with others who understand. No matter where you are on your journey, you will find a place here.
