FRESH START

Supporting Partners and Spouses of the Armed Forces Community

When we think of the Armed Forces Community, we primarily picture Veterans and serving members of our Armed Forces. However, the community is more far-reaching, and a life of service affects not just the serviceman/woman; it affects those closest to them, too.

Partners and spouses of the Armed Forces Community may often feel the pressures and burdens of military life even if they are not themselves military personnel. For example, childcare can become a real issue if a spouse/partner is away for long spells. Finding work or attending courses can become a much greater task with such added pressures.

Therefore, we have decided to begin our new FRESH START project as our own way to support spouses/partners of the Armed Forces Community.

The service is designed to work flexibly around individual/family needs, and comfort is paramount. We will work at your pace, striving for your goals.
New service users will be put in touch with our small, adaptable team. They may wish to...:

  • - Identify and/or access an opportunity of employment/training which is tangible for them and compliments their life
  • - Recieve soft-support, such as sign-posting, CV work, or being introduced to a provider
  • - Identify the steps needed to achieve pre-existing aims
  • - Identify what the needs/interests are, what goal is achievable within their family structure

FRESH START COFFEE MORNINGS

Come meet the Battling On Team, whether you're interested in joining the Fresh Start project or just want to have a chat!

The FRESH START project recently began!

Our next step is to start some FRESH START coffee mornings. We have arranged two starter days at Sir Robert Geffery Village Hall, Landrake, to take place on October 14th and 28th. Sarah and Adam from Battling On will be at the hall from 10am to 1pm on these two dates, meeting local members of the Armed Forces Community who are interested in the FRESH START project and anybody who wishes to come along and meet us!
Please see the attached flyer for more information.
